About the Event

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE MESSAGE FOR IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT THIS CLASS.

NYS Hunter Education Program in-person courses are offered FOR FREE to the public.
All students must arrive on time and attend all days as scheduled above.

All NYS Hunter Ed classes require students to complete homework (details below) before attending the in-person class. Bring proof of completed homework to class. If you have already taken the online course, bring the certificate from that as proof of homework.
If it is not done, you will be turned away.

You have 2 options for doing the homework:
1. On Paper: Read the “Today’s Hunter” student manual and complete the Hunter Education Homework Worksheet. (Cost: Free)
OR
2. Online: Read “Today’s Hunter” online (PDF, 5mb), then print and complete the Hunter Education Homework Worksheet. (PDF, 235KB). Both available at www.hunter-ed.com/newyork/manual (Cost: Free). You do NOT need to print the manual, only the 4 page worksheet. Hard copies of the manual will be available at class.
Note: If you have already been certified via another Hunter Ed course, you are allowed to take it again; bring your certificate in lieu of the homework.

Manuals/worksheets can be picked up from:
• the Region 8 DEC offices (see https://www.dec.ny.gov/about/76070.html ):
o HQ at 6274E. Avon-Lima Rd, Avon (24/7 via yellow bins outside the front door)
o Bath sub-office: 7291 Coon Rd, Bath (8:30-4:30 M-F)
o Iroquois Field office/NWR, 1101 Casey Road, Basom, (www.fws.gov/refuge/Iroquois)
• Montezuma Audubon Center; 2295 State Rte 89, Savannah (10 AM – 4 PM Tues-Sat.) (http://ny.audubon.org/montezuma)

All students should bring pen/pencil, their hunter education manual (if you have one) and the completed homework.

OPTIONS IF THE CLASS IS FILLED:
- You could take a chance and just show up to this class. If a registered student fails to show, you might get their open seat.
- However, it also may be given by someone else doing the same thing, so you need to be prepared to be turned away. HW requirements still apply.
- Keep checking back. If someone cancels, that open seat is available on a first-come, first-served (FCFS) basis.
- Keep checking the main list of classes; new postings appear as they are registered by instructors. -
